I am no authority on culture and I know I am not being fair by generalizing...but I'll say this anyway. If there is a difference in attitude between people in USA and India....it is this....USA is a nation of romantic believers. India is a nation of romantic sceptics. While I like the former (for different reasons including the fact that it tickles my more humorous imaginations and the positivity that is infectious)....I am the latter. I cannot believe there is a saviour or a complete solution to any problem. I am incapable of thinking so.
People here are far more sensitive then they appear to be on the surface. However one aspect I don't like is...there is a shell around almost everyone. People speak about things which are impersonal with a great deal of passion and as if it mattered (Maybe it does and I don't see it because I can't think like that)....but they really can't speak about themselves.
Contrast this with the raw emotion and feeling I can see and feel back home. The shell is absent mostly. There is scepticism amost everywhere. But people do communicate what they feel.
Maybe is it that I just don't understand....yet. |
