This is a rant..........

For the last 10 years all I have heard of is India's economic resurgence. Economic growth, Economic Policies, Foriegn inflow, Money in and then more money coming in and then some more money coming in. New markets. New opportunities. New ideas. Economic this and economic that.

Who is talking about the severely crippled, highly inefficient and chronically corrupt justice system that is the legacy of the last 50 years? What has changed in the last 10 years?

I haven't head of any major changes. Just a couple of convictions of high profile relatively harmless media celebrities in order to convince the country that "Everyone is equal in the eyes of the law". WHAT ABSOLUTE BULLCRAP!. Nobody is equal in the eyes of anybody. We worship power and fame.

No economic growth and prosperity can survive long without a basic sense of safety and at least a little belief that as an Indian you will be treated justly regardless of your stature and connections. So do you? I don't. I never have. I most probably never will. Not in this lifetime anyway.

We should really start looking at the disease instead of the symptoms. The corruption is a symptom. The disease runs far deeper. It's simple. If you believe you can get away with something you will do it. The more people who believe this the easier it gets to commit a crime.

What is more we admire such people just because they show signs of being human every once in a while.

Ahem dude.....Who is blaming India? More importantly what exactly do you mean by 'India'?

To answer the question..."Does it happen only in India?"...No, it(an inefficient law enforcement system) is not exclusive to India. Neither are crimes like murder, rape, theft, corruption or extortion. But that does not mean it is better to pretend they don't exist.

There is no such thing as a perfect law enforcement system. The only thing that separates the good from the bad is the success rate and efficiency. Alternatively you can't not have a law enforcement system. If someone can exploit he/she will exploit.

It is a matter of common sense....from point A to B would you rather look at the better or the worse?
