When we first started i-Script, EMR/EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems were just making an appearance but had not yet been adopted by clinicians. Staff computer skills in the healthcare industry in general were still low. We needed a simple web delivery system for documents that also complied with HIPAA regulations.
The first system I put together was a simple web app that enabled secure storage and access of documents. Over time this went through several redesigns to morph into a robust document management platform, which also enabled secure exchange of healthcare documents between clinicians, while providing document editing online. It also integrated with phone lines and fax systems and supported an array of digital voice recorders, for dictation and document delivery.
It is intuitive and effective, and despite new healthcare documentation software available now, Scriptase continues to be used by a small but loyal set of customers.
